As part of the conditions of the new filming permits issued to Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd, we are required to make the following announcement relating to recent changes to the rules and regulations of filming on Victorian roads.
All Victorian Operators of Tracking Vehicles and Low Loader Trailers must be issued with Vic Roads permits for each individual vehicle and trailer. Those permits must be carried by The Operator at all times and must be produced on request.
When filming with Tracking Vehicles, one (1) permit is required from Vic Roads.
- This permit is a letter of authority granting a permanent exemption to Road Rule 268, allowing the carriage of passengers on the back of the nominated Tracking Vehicle(s).
When filming with Low Loader Trailers, two (2) permits are required from Vic Roads.
- A letter of authority granting a permanent exemption to Road Rule 298 allowing the carriage of passengers on the back of the nominated Low Loader Trailer(s) and
- An Over Dimensional Permit,
Class 1
Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd has been issued with the following permits
- Class 1 Over Dimensional Permit (Numbered 72/2004)
- Letters of authority granting exemptions to Road Rules 268 & 298 allowing for the carriage of passengers on the back of all of Shotmaker Australia's Tracking Vehicles and Low Loader Trailers respectively.
Provisions of the Permits
- Each person must be suitably restrained and wear appropriate safety clothing and equipment to ensure safe travel on the vehicles and or trailers.
- No persons may travel on the rear of the vehicles or on the trailers when they are not being used for the purpose of filming.
- All rolling roadblocks, roadblocks or closures are required to be supervised by Victoria Police.
There are several zones within Victoria that require additional permits which are to be sought from VIC Roads by The Operator when filming with a Low Loader Trailer(s).
Some regulations are in place, which restrict the times of travel and filming with the Low Loader Trailers.
Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd Policy & Procedures
Effective immediately, the following procedures and regulations are compulsory and apply to all Productions wanting to use Shotmaker Australia's equipment.
- As soon as possible, dates for filming must be finalised.
- As soon as possible, location and routes of travel must be finalised.
- All filming, using Tracking Vehicle(s) and/or Low Loader Trailer(s) requires a Victoria Police presence.
- It is a requirement of the Victoria Police Film & Television Office and VIC ROADS that Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd undertakes a road survey of proposed locations and travel routes.
- The results of a road survey must be submitted a minimum of five (5) working days prior to commencement of filming in order for the Police Film & Television Office to allocate resources for Police Escort Vehicle(s).
- The Victoria Police Film & Television Office will determine the necessary number of Police Escorts in consultation with Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd once the road survey has been completed.
- In the event that Police resources are limited and only one (1) Police Escort Vehicle is allocated, a support escort vehicle will be required to assist. Escort Vehicles and Drivers are available from Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd and a number of other service providers approved by Shotmaker Australia Pty Ltd.
- Each Production must contact the Victorian Police Film & Television Office directly to discuss the lodgment of Traffic Management Plans as soon as possible.
- The Victorian Police Film & Television Office will not allocate Police Escorts to a Production if this issue is not addressed.
